Irish Mid-Century Modernist Abstract Painting

A striking Irish modernist abstract painting attributed to the artist Egan. The composition is constructed from layered geometric forms and expressive brushwork in rich tones of terracotta, cobalt blue, black and soft white.

Strong blocks of colour are balanced by softened edges, rubbed surfaces and visible brush marks, giving the work an atmospheric, architectural quality. The black mount provides a dramatic contrast to the vivid palette.
