Walton lived and worked in Ludham, Norfolk. His early paintings were inspired by the East Anglian landscape and his friendship with artist Edward Seago. From the 1990s, he developed a more abstract style, using energetic layers of paint and scraped-back textures to create richly coloured, tactile compositions.
